Let's talk about the easy one first............the 1/8 for Parks and Pipes.
This has been around for about 14-15 years, and the voters of Shawnee have previously approved it twice.
One half of the money goes to storm water projects and the other half goes to acquire new land for parks and to make improvements to parks.
At a recent council meeting some of the council members wanted to include park maintenance in that as a possible "relief valve" from the general fund. That didn't pass.
This dedicated sales tax has shown to be effective in the past.
So, this is an easy one. Vote to keep it.
